New Restaurant Coming to the Shattuck Down Low Space in Berkeley

Popular Berkeley nightspot the Shattuck Down Low (2284 Shattuck Avenue) is closing in three weeks to make way for a new “student-centric” restaurant and bar. The Daily Californian reports that the nightclub, which has been operating in that space for the past eleven years, was just given a 30-day eviction notice by the landlord, whose brining in the restaurant tenant Rustic Restaurants LLC. There are no real details about the concept, but a rep for the company says it should be open by January, with a lower level lounge opening later, by spring. The Shattuck Down Low’s last day will be October 14, and Daniel Cukierman is hunting for a new location for the club. [Daily Californian]
