One of Jonathan Kauffman’s favorite pies in his 2011 pie tour came from Oakland-based PieTisserie and pastry chef Jaynelle St. Jean. She’s only been doing pop-ups until now, but Eater is reporting that she’ll be launching the first permanent pie window at 444 Oak Street in Oakland (near 5th), between Jack London Square and Lake Merritt, just a hop and a skip from the Lake Merritt BART stop. Look for her signature chocolate cream in a pretzel crust, as well as her key lime (Kauffman’s fave), as well as new flavors like spiced plum with huckleberry, and lemongrass custard. [Eater]
