Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, the Texas-bred franchise with a location in Redondo Beach, is set to get totally pitted in Northridge this week. The chain got its start in 1941 and claims to still smoke its brisket, ribs, and pulled pork, but a Dickey’s in Huntington Beach wasn’t received so kindly and shuttered in 2010 and who hasn’t been let down before by chain barbecue? Still, the San Fernando Valley location is offering a chance to sample their stuff practically risk-free at a grand-opening ceremony this Friday. The first 200 people will get a free bottle of Dickey’s signature sauce while every customer coming in from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. will get a one-dollar pulled pork sandwich, promised to be huge.

The place is most likely hoping it will be a hit with the CSU student body, but if Friday’s deal fails to motivate a repeat visit, there’s always Smoke City Market to satisfy the Valley’s Texan barbecue jones, and of course, our new friends at The Bear Pit!

Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, 9035 Reseda Blvd. Northridge; 818-527-2271.
