
Meritage chef Anne Coll just finished updating the Rittenhouse restaurant’s menus for fall, and with the seasonal update comes our second claim this week of a new dessert that’s going to rival Barbuzzo’s cult hit, the salted caramel budino. Coll’s new plates include an ode to autumn in the form of a grilled quail, served with cheddar polenta, collard greens, and an apple cider gastrique; and an obligatory duck dish that pairs a confitted quacker with caramelized sweet potato puree, a petite endive salad, and red wine reduction. But the last course showpiece, a sweet concoction of banana, Oreo and caramel pudding topped with whipped cream is what’s being touted as the city’s next great dessert.
