The ghost of Janis Joplin still looms large over the Haight, not to mention the Fillmore Auditorium, and thus the new owners of Martin Macks (1568 Haight) have decided to rename the bar after her. Earlier this year the popular bar closed briefly, changed hands, and reopened after a legal kerfuffle. They then did a remodel, added a new menu, and now Uppercasing brings word of the new name: Joplin’s. It’s not quite official, as the new signage hasn’t gone up, but there you have it. [Uppercasing]
