Commis chef-owner James Syhabout, who last year opened up the much loved Hawker Fare near downtown Oakland, is expanding with a third project in the former Somerset space at 5912 College Avenue in Rockridge. The 2010 Food & Wine Best New Chef tells the Scoop that it will be a casual affair, with a back patio, full bar, and the chef will be Benjamin Coe who’s been working in the kitchen at Commis for two years, and who also worked at Morimoto Napa and Orson.
