A Korean-American man whose order of Buffalo shrimp and wings was entered into Hooters’ POS system with the customer identifier of “CHINX” is suing the restaurant company, according to the Times. When Kisuk Cha placed his order at the breastaurant chain’s Fresh Meadows location on July 1, he and his girlfriend noted two Hooters employees giggling and “gawking at them.” Eventually, Mr. Cha discovered the slur printed on the receipt when he received his order. A representative from the holding company that owns the Hooters locations on Long Island told the Times that one of the two employees encountered by Mr. Cha was a 17-year-old hostess, who admitted to the incident and “immediately resigned.” Can the chain-restaurant workers of America stop doing this, please? You’ll recall that similar incidents have targeted Asian customers at both Papa John’s and Chick-fil-A in the last year. Who is writing these employee handbooks anyway?
