The proprietor of Caledonia on the Upper East Side is opening a single-malt-centric bar called Duke of Montrose in the heart of Park Slope. Steven Owen tells DNAinfo that the bar is slated to open this winter at 47 Fifth Avenue and will have a “Scottish flair,” evoking the interior of a whiskey distillery. Owen plans to serve a full menu and acknowledges that, while the future Duke of Montrose may be this close to the Barclays Center and its associated jock jams, his focus is opening a reserved neighborhood bar.
