Deuxave chef Chris Coombs’ business partner Brian Piccini tells the BBJ that his forthcoming steakhouse in the doomed Ginger Park and Banq space on Washington Street will be a “non-traditional” steakhouse. He also tells the paper that he looks at locations first, then settles on a concept. As we noted a few months ago, the space is so massive that a steakhouse (traditional or non-) is pretty much the only thing that could work there.
The rather juicy article, which notes the proliferation of steakhouses throughout our fine city, predicts a winter opening for the non-steakhouse. Piccini says he’s “not worried” about the competition, though BBJ didn’t exactly grill him on why the Boston Chops concept is so unique. Unrelated: Chef Coombs once actually appeared on Chopped.
