Lunch

Yes, Virginia, There Is Somewhere To Eat Lunch in the Loop

The Loop at lunchtime has always been the hard case for optimists who want to believe that people care about food, a procession of soulless fast food places serving dead-to-the-tastebuds turkey sandwiches and the like to a large captive audience. Or so it seems; but in fact, it has gotten better over the years, and to document the fact, Serious Eats Chicago last week ran a slideshow of 26 items under $10 in the Loop that won’t leave your tastebuds wondering what just happened— food went by but we got nothin’! Admittedly, some of them are things like Beard Papa cream puffs or Do-Rite Donuts, which don’t really qualify as lunch if you’re over six, but it also has a lot of perfectly respectable things like the Cubano sandwich at Cafecito, the mushroom tofu ramen at Noodles by Takashi, and the falafel sandwich at the place we went to escape fast food all through the 90s, Oasis Cafe. And of course, there are pics to make you hungry by the likes of Nick Kindelsperger, our man Roger Kamholz and Dennis Lee. Check it out, resolve to do better than Subway today. [SE: Chicago]
