Oliverio at The Avalon Hotel reaches out to tell us it has a new cocktail menu themed after this year’s Emmy-nominated shows. Among them are drinks for Downton Abbey, Mad Men, and Boardwalk Empire, with all of the seven drinks based around Stillhouse Original Moonshine and served by the bar or pool at $13 a pop through this Sunday, when The Emmys take place. Since we’re counting on Breaking Bad to hijack top honors, we took a closer look at Oliverio’s show-themed libation here, called “Blue Crystal,” a mix of Stillhouse, Malibu rum, pineapple juice, blue Curacao, and sprite with a sugar rim. Yeah, not bad. But we think we can break a little better.
First off, the drink has to be called “Crystal Blue Persuasion,” and obvious to any fan who watched Walt Jr. puke in the pool or a certain Mexican cartel Don disagree with his Zafiro Anejo, this sucker should be tequila-based.
It could surely take a spritz of Schraderbrau beer, a shot of O.J., and has to include a pinch of chile powder to ward off potential psychopaths. And really, wouldn’t a rock candy swizzle stick made with this stuff serve as the perfect garnish?
