The ten day hops and malt marathon known as L.A. Beer Week begins tonight, and if chasing Firestone-Walker around for a sip of barrel-aged brew sounds too much like work, Sunday will see a unique and very cool set-up for barrel-aged tastes at Santa Monica’s The Victorian. Four revered L.A. bartenders are coming together to each create their own cocktail using both a barrel-aged spirit and barrel-aged beer at “The Beauty of The Barrel.” At the same time, ten breweries will serve guests one 4oz. pour of their own barrel-aged beers and unlimited pours of their core offerings (with quite a number of rarities) while four distillers will parse out tastes of their barrel-aged spirits. Bartenders include Mia Sarazen, Hemingway’s Alex Straus, Basement at The Victorian’s own Brad Twigg, and Luke Wederbrook of Steringarten, who will mix with labels like Ladyface, Hangar 24, and Ballast Point as well as the spirits of their choosing.
$40 tickets are available online, with net proceeds going to The Virginia Avenue Project, and are sure to sell out as the event is limited to only 125 guests. See the full line-up of attending bartenders and breweries, and how they plan to unite, below.
