David Weitzenhoffer was the wine director of Lidia Bastianich’s Felidia in New York. Now he’s a wine importer, but one who aims to assemble a list of imports the way he’d assemble a list for a restaurant. How’s that working out? You can find out when NoMI Kitchen holds a pop-up event featuring his A.I. Selections on Monday. It’s in the art gallery, limited to 30 people, and will feature a lavish five-course meal by chef Ryan LaRoche (oysters, Wagyu carpaccio, black truffle risotto, that sort of thing) paired with different wines from the portfolio. It starts at 6 p.m.; call 312-239-4030 for reservations.
• Support Children’s Memorial Hospital; eat pie. How is that not a win-win? C-House will donate $1 to Children’s for every special pie sold through the end of the year. Currently it’s key lime pie but the featured pie will change with the seasons; they’re $8, whichever flavor it is at the time.
• RA Sushi holds its 2nd annual “Wake Up Little Sushi” event featuring Chicago TV anchors competing to devise sushi rolls for charity; the audience gets to help judge and the winning roll will be featured at RA October 1 to 15 with part of its proceeds going to charity. The event is this Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.
• You keep taking pictures of your food, want to see them in a book? Our colleague Ari Bendersky is putting together a book called 1000 Food Styling Ideas for Rockport Publishers and looking for cool shots from you. Go here to find out more.
