Yesterday, we told you mojitos are a fast lane to a bartender’s ire, and today we brought you more of Danny Meyer’s customer-tracking lingo. Well, now ABC News has a list of waiter hate-bait, top of which is ordering hot tea: “Waiters have to get a pot, boil the water, get the lemons, get the honey, bring a cup and spoon. It’s a lot of work for little reward” (don’t even think about bringing your own teabag, like our mother has been known to do). And because it’s been a while since Kitchen Confidential came out, here are a few icky tidbits your server’s not telling you: The lemons are unwashed, the eggs might be powdered, and specials are just a way to get rid of old food.
