Smoke & Mirrors, the hotshot club run by Paul Sevigny and Armin Amiri, founders of New York’s shuttered Paul & Andre, are apparently tired of playing by the rules of others. In June, the duo fled The Standard, with both parties throwing hyperbolic blows on the way out. No word on how The Standard is enjoying basking in an “age of darkness,” but Smoke & Mirrors’ current run in an annex within Cinespace (the former home of its local Paul & Andre pop-up) will officially end in one to two weeks, Amiri explains to The Hollywood Reporter. Next, the guys plan to establish a permanent space for the club on LaCienega, just South of Santa Monica, where Euro-destinations typically dominate the block, creating a kind of counterbalance for Sevigny and Amiri’s dedicated “anti-bottle service” M.O. that still features “the toughest door in town.” Smoke & Mirrors hopes to open its new digs by Halloween.
