Get your post-Outside Lands beauty sleep this week, as the fourth annual weekend-long San Francisco Street Food Festival is happening this weekend, and its going to be bigger and better than ever. The festival kicks off on Friday night with a special new night market from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Alameny Farmers Market (100 Alemany Blvd) site, which will be modeled after the night markets of Bangkok.
The night market will highlight 27 chefs and vendors, including Javier Plascencia from Mision 19 in Tijuana, barbecue master Rodney Scott from South Carolina, and Bay Area restaurants such as Locanda, Fifth Floor, Jardiniere and LaCiccia. Tickets to the night market are $25, and plates will be $10 or less.
The main festival takes place on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will span eight blocks — Folsom between 20th and 26th with side blocks between Treat and Shotwell. According to NBC Bay Area, there will be a more global variety this year, including vendors from Nigeria, Columbia, and Ethiopia, along with more vegan and vegetarian options. They also note that carnivores can still expect meat on every corner. Admission to Saturday’s event is free, and all plates cost $8 or less.
A two-day conference will take place on Sunday and Monday, featuring panels and workshops on women food entrepreneurs, trends in ethnic food, opportunities in foodservice and food technology, and more.
