At the eighth annual Corks & Crayons fundraiser on August 26, some of Chicago’s hottest chefs (Heather Terhune, Richie Farina, and Mindy Segal) will mingle with rugrats, making for an unusual event. The event is really for anyone, though, and proceeds go toward Purple Asparagus, a nonprofit that teaches kids about healthy eating. Signature eats from the aforesaid chefs, as well as cocktails, wine, beer and specially made kiddie cocktails will provide the nourishment.
In addition to food and drink, there will also be games, a mini farmer’s market, a photo booth, silent auctions, art projects for the kids, and the big reveal of Michael Moody’s (fitness expert in Chicago) Redefine Yourself Fitness Challenge. When was the last time you attended a culinary event like this one? Yeah, we already know the answer. Probably never. Unless you’ve gone to the seven previous Corks & Crayons events. And all of this food and fun takes place at the Greenhouse Loft in Avondale. Tickets are still available, so purchase here.
