Eater introduces Hot Red Bus in Alhambra, L.A.’s only joint Indian restaurant and British fish and chippery, imported to The SGV by husband and wife Sonny and Sage Shemi, the owners of Ma Jasmin’s, a well-liked stand found in the city’s farmers market. Sonny is a British-Indian gent with family ties to Kenya and ancestral roots in The Punjub. He met Sage, a Texas transplant to Cali, when he moved to L.A., inspiring the two to bring together The Golden State’s culinary cutting-edge with the marriage of British and Indian influences (one such example being the chef’s pork curry with sweet jalapenos).

Slated to open September 15, Hot Red Bus will feature roti wraps stuffed with grilled masala onions and options of lamb, chicken tikka, and beef-seekh kebab, as well as the chef’s proprietary samosa rolls, plus the option for double-fried fish with thick chips served with curry instead of tartar sauce, along with a few Franken-fused medleys of all these ingredients together. Ma Jasmin’s, meanwhile will continue to pop-up each Sunday at the Alhambra Farmers Market.

Hot Red Bus, 31 E. Main St. Alhambra; 626-576-2877.
