Loop: Tickets to Hamburger Hop, that prelude to Chicago Gourmet that’s all about the beef, went live yesterday. Seeing as how this town was built on red meat and that Hamburger Hop sells out every year, we think it’d behoove you to purchase tix ASAP, or you’ll be left wondering, “who beat my meat?”

River North: You don’t need to be a design or architecture buff to enjoy the Kitchen Walk Kick-Off party. Even though the proceeds benefit Designs for Dignity, a nonprofit design firms that provides free design services to organizations, all you need to know how to do is EAT. The Kick-Off party takes place on the penthouse level of the Reid Murdoch/Whirlpool building in their Jenn-Air kitchens, and is a preview to the actual Kitchen Walk in October in Harbor County, Michigan. Many chefs will be in attendance, sampling their, sometimes, award-winning dishes, and some of the best wines from around the world will be poured. Some of your fave mixologists will be there too, shaking things up. If you’re food-inclined, purchase a ticket. It all goes down Aug. 21.

West Loop: Riesling is a great summer wine option, but its versatility makes it adaptable for all kinds of dishes in various types of weather. Michelin-starred Sepia restaurant will have a special paired Austrian Riesling dinner on this Friday, Aug. 17. Four courses with four wines to match, the dinner is $70 pp plus an additional $40 for the wine pairing. Call 312.441.1920 to make reservations.
