Last month, noted Danish chef Christian Puglisi of Relæ in Copenhagen, did a guest dinner at Bar Tartine as part of their ongoing Monday “Curiosities” series, and most of the S.F. food elite showed up. Today we get the upcoming schedule for the series, which includes another Danish chef, Bo Bech, who’ll be doing a prix fixe feast on September 24. Bech is the chef-owner at Restaurant Geist in Copenhagen, and he previously made his name at Restaurant Paustian, a popular waterfront restaurant open since the late 80s (Bech was there from 2004 until last year).
Chef Nick Balla and baker-owner Chad Robertson toured Copenhagen last year in preparation for the Central/Eastern European revamp at Bar Tartine, and Robertson has maintained contact with chefs he met there like Bech and Puglisi.
London critic Jay Rayner writes of a “rollercoaster of a meal” he had at Geist last year, with “great highs and awful lows.” (If you’d like to know more about Bech and his innermost self, you can read his answers to the Proust questionnaire here.)
In any event, the dinner is $110 per person is likely to fill up fast, with seatings from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Reserve at OpenTable or at 415-487-1600.
