Kevin Hickey wants company! He wants to see his fellow chefs and other industry folks. Even more importantly, he wants to feed you his amazing housemade hot dog, which is in the dictionary next to “high-low fusion.” (Well, our dictionary.) Anyway, come to Allium on Tuesdays and flash a business card or ID showing you’re industry, and you’ll get half off craft beers, cocktails, and his awesome menu of porky goodness, starting Tuesday, September 4.

• And mark Saturday, September 8 for Big Star’s Dust Up Festival, which aims to be an annual festival in the restaurant’s parking lot with records spinning at noon and live music beginning at 4 p.m., put on in conjunction with The Metro and Tecate, among others.

• Speaking of Big Star and its chef Justin Large, he’ll be at Telegraph to help launch their “Cooking With Wine” dinner series September 6, serving cuisine from Austria and Germany along with wine pairings and all you can drink beer. There are two seatings, it’s $65 a person, and you can see the menu here. Call 773-292-9463 to make a reservation.

• Speaking of Paul Kahan restaurants and guest chefs, Bill Kim, who you’d think had enough to do this week, will close out the Publican Quality Meats barbecues for this season Sunday from 3 to 8.

• It’s the last few days for Henri’s La Carte de France menu from Burgundy, which concludes Monday with its menu prepared by chef Dirk Flanigan and pairings by Sommelier Shebnem Ince. You’ll have to wait till September 22 for the next one, from the Loire.
