So, here’s some exciting new real estate on the horizon for prospective restaurateurs to ponder: A new development at the corner of Octavia and Market, in the works for several years but stalled after that little blip with the national economy, is back in play and headed before Planning this week. It’s a narrow residential building of 49 units, designed by respected architect Stanley Saitowitz (Yerba Buena Lofts, Conduit Restaurant), and the rendering below shows that the 2,085 square feet of ground-floor commercial space could make for a cool little café or bar, with windows facing Market.

It’s an odd piece of land, with Octavia curving around it and with a steep slope at one end, and Saitowitz maintains a consistent roofline across the building as it dips down on the lower levels to match the contours of the site. Also of note: a lot of vertical, colored-glass sunshades across the face of the curtain wall.

If the building gets approved this week, according to SocketSite, they may be ready to start construction as early as the fall.
