As Charlie Trotter’s restaurant enters its last month of service after 25 years… what does the man himself think about it all? We’re sure elaborate tributes are on their way from various corners of the media, but let’s start in fairly down to earth fashion with a series of 4-5 minute interview videos from The Daily Meal. There are four parts so far; we were particularly interested in the two that covered his early days, the first one about his family’s tastes in food and his early efforts to break beyond that working for Gordon Sinclair (who actually started him as a server), and the second one about his travels, first to other restaurants (he claims Chez Panisse threatened to call the cops on him when he tried to intern there) and then to France, which convinced him he could run a restaurant at the tender age of 27.
