FigOly, the new Downtown restaurant where former Top Chef contestant, La Seine, and Cafe Was chef Alex Reznik will be cooking an L.A.-influenced, Northern Italian menu with house-made pasta and dishes like beef cheek and oxtail with gorgonzola polenta and smoked tomato minestra with lump crab and corn blossom, is on track to open on July 27.
The restaurant, which also finds bar-star Matt Biancaniello curating cocktails, will start taking reservations today for its first week of business (July27-August 3) using social media. In fact, it’s only holding first-week reservations for its Twitter followers, as an advance look at its new Twitter reservations system.
For the next two weeks prior to opening, FigOly will accept reservations for its first week soft-opening strictly from diners who tweet their requests straight to the restaurant’s handle: @FigOly. That means you have to follow the place first, then tweet the date, time, and number of people in your party, to which a manager will direct message the diner back with a “yay” or a “nay,” the latter coming with alternate dates.
Confirmed reservations will also be held under the guest’s Twitter handle, which is a total bummer for the fella who has to admit he’s really @Snookifandotnet. On the upside, maybe we’ll finally learn who’s actually behind Ruth Bourdain.
FigOly, opening July 27 at 1020 S. Figueroa St. 2nd Fl. Downtown.
