West Hollywood’s Tradition Tapas Kitchen and Forbidden Bar, which replaced Mexico Restaurante y Barra last fall, is forbidden from doing any business for one whole week after repeated code and permit violations pertaining to its operating hours. According to WeHo News, the neighborhood’s Business License Commission decided on Tuesday to shut down the restaurant and bar for seven days starting this Saturday, following numerous noise violations that put the place in hot water.
As per its conditional permit, the restaurant is supposed to close by 11:00 P.M. each night and has reportedly not been complying, though one of its two owners claims no one has the $8,000 fee to attempt an adjustment of its conditional use permit that might allow for the extra hours. The seven-day suspension, as opposed to a proposed 30-day penalty, was intended as a lighter punishment for the venue, as the BLC sought to save it from total closure. The action also comes with a six-month probation period, during which another violation could be met with the full 30-day suspension, referred to as an unofficial “death sentence” for a fledgling business like this one.
