Take a Look at New York Food’s ‘Hidden Side’

Photo: Random House

New book Eat This City takes a look at the fringes and far-flung workplaces of New York’s showier local food champions, like Baron Ambrosia and Tom Mylan, but also Jorge Torres, who cultivates sugar cane in the Bronx, and the old-time grape peddlers who work a stall at the Brooklyn Terminal Market. At Slate, author Robin Shulman (who will also sign copies of her book Sunday at New Amsterdam Market), shows off some pictures she took while exploring the city’s “hidden” food culture. [Slate]
