Mission Rock Resort to Open Next Month After Two Million-Dollar Renovation

Kelly’s Mission Rock (817 Terry Francois Boulevard) just got a major renovation at the hands of Peter Osborne, the guy who owns MoMo’s, Pete’s Tavern and Pedro’s Cantina, and it’s set to open in August as a two-floor bar and grill called Mission Rock Resort. (Earlier he’d been going with Mission Rock Brewery and Oyster Bar, but he’s changed his mind.) As we’d heard earlier, the place is huge, and will have a whopping 345 seats, making it quite possibly the biggest restaurant in town. Osborne tells the Chron that he is “intoxicated” by the waterfront location and thinks it’s never lived up to its potential. He’s using reclaimed wood from the bleachers at UC Berkeley’s Memorial Stadium to make the bar tops, and there will also be an oyster station. We’ll update you when we know the exact opening date.
