Now in the running for most expensive menu in town is The Gamut at Michael Mina, clocking in at $245 without wine pairing. That’s actually over the weenight price for Saison’s tasting menu, which is $198 without wine, but just shy of Saison’s weekend price of $248. Mina tells the Chron that he wanted a more indulgent version of his existing tasting menu that “can showcase the restaurant.” Advance reservations for The Gamut are required. In related news, Mina is currently in a battle with a couple New York restaurateurs to claim an enormous, 25,000-square-foot marketplace that will be an Eataly-like addition to Lower Manhattan’s World Financial Center.
