Jimmy Buffett is bringing his Margaritaville brand to Atlantic City in a very big way. Star-Ledger reports today that the singer-songwriter, who has made a career out of penning breezy odes to the free and easy buzzed and flip-flopped lifestyle, is behind a $35 million upgrade that will add several Buffett-ized concepts to the casino and hotel. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who donned a pink lei for the announcement, touts the forthcoming project as part of the ailing gambling destination’s big comeback. Plans include erecting year-round venue LandShark Bar & Grill on the beach, Five O’Clock Somewhere Bar, a 400-seat Margaritaville Cafe inside the casino, plus retail and a coffee shop on the boardwalk. Sounds like there will be plenty of opportunities for Buffett’s Parrothead fans to get wasted away, again and again. Construction is expected to start after Labor Day. [Star-Ledger]
