Since decamping from San Francisco after a consulting gig at San Francisco’s Plum, all eyes have been on former Manresa and Ubuntu chef Jeremy Fox. Following a series of temp dinners and consulting gigs, Fox surfaced in West L.A. with the opening of Freddy Smalls, on which he’d given a hand to the menus before picking up his bindle and heading on to some consultation on Paper and Plastick and the development of his own food line. Today, Fox announces a new project, a restaurant of his very own called Barnyard in the increasingly chef-heavy city of Venice.
Slated to open this year, Barnyard will take space on Pacific Avenue in the former home of Benice. According to his PR, he will offer “his own interpretation of peasant cuisine,” which will then be sold to charmed rich folks. Fox plans to feature rustic small plates inspired by his travels around the world, including his Southern upbringing and an exploration of Mediterranean and North African flavors.
