Il Mulino Will Close Friday, Mr. Chow Will Open Fabulously In Space Eventually

Il Mulino, closing Friday.
Il Mulino, closing Friday.

Today in supposedly big restaurant news that, frankly, we can’t get that excited about: Il Mulino, the hotshot New York import that took over part of the Biggs Mansion on 1150 N. Dearborn a few years ago (the other part is Table Fifty-Two), got a lot of press, but which nobody we know ever liked (read this hilarious takedown at LTHForum), and which in one case, at least, actually sued a paper (the Dallas Morning News) over their review, is closing Friday, according to Eater. Il Mulino says they’re going to find a new spot in town; we’ll watch that real closely.

But after speculation that the location might become a new Playboy Club, the replacement is now alleged to be something called Mr Chow, which is a see and be seen place in Beverly Hills and other trendy cities where you can pay a great deal of money for something resembling Chinese food. This finalizes a confusing situation we reported several months ago, in which Il Mulino was thinking about teaming up with Philippe Chow, who is not Mr. Chow, on a new concept in the space, while the space was bring stalked by Michael Chow, who is Mr. Chow. Glad that’s all settled now.
