Forget that slog to Solvang, folks, as Copenhagen Pastry opened its doors this past Saturday in Culver City. The new business comes from Karen Hansen, who is bent on bringing flaky, authentic Danish sweets like fruit danishes, spandauer, snails, snaps, kringle, twists, braids, curls, butter cake, almond rings, and house-baked rye breads to L.A. with help from Henrik Gram, the original baker at Downtown’s Hygge Bakery. The bakery is now soft-open, with a grand-opening planned for July 15. In the meantime, Hansen is offering free samples to all who visit to help familiarize the city with different Danish treats. Copenhagen opens Monday through Friday from 7:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. and weekends from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. No word on its ebelskiver scene just yet.
