Barbara Lynch Launches the Barbara Lynch Foundation

According to a release, the chef has launched her very own nonprofit devoted to making Boston’s communities healthier. Says the release: “Driven by a wish to be more actively involved in causes that resonate with her and her team, Chef Lynch established the foundation with the intention that it enable programs with positive and lasting changes in the city of Boston.” The first initiative? Meet the Worms.

Meet the Worms! teaches kids at the South End’s Blackstone Elementary School about nutrition, exercise, and community involvement, alongside St. Stephen’s Church and Lovin’ Spoonfuls, through hands-on learning in the garden and in the classroom. (Per the release, the kids are even learning to love kale.) Lynch, of course, attended Boston schools herself, where she was once a bookie. Next up: field trip to Menton?
