Rumors surfaced yesterday on Eater that Andy Ricker may be planning a bar for the long-vacant Iro Sushi space on Columbia Street at Kane Street, just down the block from his always-jammed Pok Pok Ny. Connoisseurs of Ricker’s empire know that in Portland, waiting for the original Pok Pok may be done at Whiskey Soda Lounge across the street, where drinks and Thai small plates are served. Ricker tells us via e-mail that “There is not a signed lease for anything at this point.” He adds, “It’s no secret that I have been looking for a space to put a lounge in along the Columbia Waterfront: it would solve a lot of problems for us in much the same way the Whiskey Soda Lounge did in Portland.” With little other real estate available in this out-of-the-way Brooklyn stretch, we’ll see what unfolds.
