Pizza Roma’s Secret Garden; Summer Produce Cooking Classes

• It’s not too late to take advantage of summer produce. Cookbook author Jay Weinstein hosts a marathon all-day cooking class tomorrow at the Natural Gourmet Institute, starting with bread dough in the morning, a shopping trip to Greenmarket at Union Square to find seasonal ingredients, and finishing with a locally grown meal. Tickets are $150. [Tasting Table]

• The team behind sweet food truck Cupcake Crew will appear on Food Network’s Cupcake Wars this Sunday at 8 p.m. for an Angry Birds–themed episode. [Midtown Lunch]

• The DEP fined the East 14th Street IHOP $560 after neighbors continually complained about the loud ventilator, described in complaints as a “constant roar” and “inescapable blare.” That ventilator was installed after those neighbors complained about the unbearable smell of bacon coming from the restaurant. Yep, you read that right. The unbearable smell of bacon. [LEV]

Birreria Roma, the secret beer garden behind Pizza Roma, will offer a beer and pizza pairing (can you say, perfect meal?) for $60 starting July 30. Every Monday through Wednesday, start with a salad pizza (arugula pie topped with cherry tomatoes and Parmesan), choose a traditional Roman pizza from the menu, and for dessert feast on a pizza blanca stuffed with Nutella or the Panzerottini (fried dough stuffed with sweet jam). Naturally, each course comes with a specialty beer. Call 212-924-1970 for a reservation, and find Birreria Roma on Cornelia St. near Bleecker next to an unmarked metal door. [Grub Street]

• Tomorrow at 2 p.m., Sips & Bites and Brooklyn Oenology pair up for Snacks & Sips pop-up café. They’ll feature tiny baguette sandwiches and petite salads not offered on the menu, plus New York state wines. [Grub Street]
