A fire late yesterday in the building that houses the Waverly Inn forced the restaurant to shut down last night and, the Post says, damaged the spot’s famous mural. (Robert Sietsema was on the scene.) Nobody was hurt in the short blaze, but, um, about that mural. Turns out it won’t be too difficult to fix: “The whole thing is digitalized,” artist Edward Sorel says of the piece in the Waverly. “It’s a replica; it’s easily reproduced.” [NYP]
