When The Bedford opened, much was made of chef Mark Steuer’s long training under Mindy Segal. Somewhat less was made of his own heritage as a Charleston native who worked occasional southern touches into his menu, but that’s about to change. Time Out Chicago reports that Steuer and Salita Development, owners of The Bedford, are planning to open Carriage House in Wicker Park in September. The restaurant will focus on Lowcountry cooking of coastal South Carolina, and will be at 1700 W. Division, the former location of some dead sports bar everyone’s pretending they’d heard of called Edge. Which means… they’re opening a Southern restaurant and passed up a chance to name it Edge.
