Step Inside Brasserie S&P, Now Open at the Mandarin Oriental
The new bar at the Mandarin Oriental.

The new replacement for Silks made its official debut yesterday, and as reported earlier, it’s called Brasserie S&P;. The name points to the intersection where the Mandarin Oriental hotel is located, at Sansome and Pine, and the new bar and restaurant space is actually not where Silks was, but in a ground-floor space carved out near the lobby, with windows facing the plaza outside. The restaurant is still awaiting a few finishing touches, like big banquettes and some lighting, but it is now open for business, as is the shiny new bar.

We showed you the food menu from chef Adam Mali, and you can see the new cocktail menu from bar manager Priscilla Young here. Also note that Young has assembled a long list of gins for the tasting, and for the mixing with her house-made tonics.

Brasserie S&P; - 222 Sansome Street at Pine, inside the Mandarin Oriental - 415-986-2020 - Open for breakfast 6:30 to 11 a.m. weekdays, 7:30 to 11 a.m. on weekends; lunch daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and dinner daily from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Bar manager Priscilla Young has been collecting antique seltzer siphons for several months now to go with her gin-and-tonic theme.

Also to go with the gin theme at the bar, they’re using St. George gin bottles as bud vases.
