Man Charged in Unsolved 19-Year-Old Murder of Sizzler Manager in Oakland

The unsolved case of the murder of Anthoney Vaughn, manager of a former Sizzler location at 2710 Telegraph Avenue in North Oakland, appears to be making headway. Charles Luckett, 58, was arrested in connection to the murder, which took place on July 16, 1993, after Luckett and another suspect allegedly ate a meal at the restaurant and then attempted to rob it. According to the story, the two suspects took Vaughn to the managers’s office at gunpoint and demanded he open the safe. When Vaughn refused, one of them, allegedly Luckett, shot Vaughn three times, and he later died. Luckett was identified by DNA evidence as having been in the restaurant that night, but he told Oakland police he was in Los Angeles at the time of the murder. That Sizzler, by the way, is now a dialysis center. [CBS5]
