Broadway Studios/Recess

The North Beach nightclub known as Recess (formerly Sutra) at 443 Broadway is changing hands and may already be closed. According to a new liquor license application, it’s reverting to the hands of landlords Karl Preskot and Francesca Valdez who own the upstairs event venue Broadway Studios. A rep for Recess told Grub Street that the club is “currently closed,” and the website (warning: loud link) has not been updated since March, so it very well may not be a nightclub anymore. The new name on the app is just “Fame Venue,” and it’s unclear if it will just be an extension of Broadway Studios, or a new full-time nightclub. In any case, the place has a full bar, a dance floor, and stripper poles. Stay tuned.
