The former Annie’s Social Club space (917 Folsom) has lain dormant for a couple of years now, and back in early 2010 we heard that something called Qi Ultra-Lounge was heading into the space. We’d long since forgotten about this, knowing “qi” only as a two-letter Scrabble word, and the whole “ultra-lounge” thing kind of makes us think of appletinis, jungle beats, and the nineties. But the project isn’t dead! Eater reports that Qi is still in the works, and nearing an opening at the end of June. And, they’ve employed someone with a poetic bent to write their promo copy: “Entering Qi Ultra Lounge, you surrender to the ambiance of an aqua-exotic escape evoking vivid sensations of the divine voyage, and sensuality laced with traces of ancient spirituality.” Got all that? Good. [Eater]
