After first denying any involvement in the resurrection of the bar formerly known as 1601 at 10th and Tasker streets, Kite & Key co-owner Jim Kirk conceded last fall that he did indeed have a financial interest in the project. However, he didn’t have much else to say about it. Today comes word that former South Philadelphia Taproom GM Evan Clancy and fellow Kite & Key barman Scott Pawlicky are spearheading Fountain Porter, “an old-school, owner-run corner bar” that will open in the former 1601 space sometime after Labor day. The Insider reports that with Kirk’s backing the two will offer 20 draught beers, a selection of affordable wines, and a menu that’s yet to be determined. [Insider]
