The next issue of Lucky Peach arrives on newsstands in a couple of weeks (July 13 is the official date), and here’s a look at the cover. It’s the American Food Issue, and in addition to stuff from regular contributors Harold McGee, Wylie Dufresne, and Anthony Bourdain, you’ll also find a photo spread featuring the very old and beloved Swan Oyster Depot in S.F., and an essay by chef Daniel Patterson on his favorite childhood diner. Also, he’ll be sharing his recipe for popcorn grits. (If you can stomach it, you can also check out this rejected cover concept for the issue, featuring faux poop.) [McSweeney’s]
