Blizzard Time: Dairy Queen Blowing Into NYC

Dairy Queen timed this news well, given that it’s approximately 8 trillion degrees outside: According to Businessweek, the soft-serve chain will open “three or four stores” in New York this year. One will be in the Staten Island Ferry St. George Terminal and at least one will be in Manhattan soon thereafter, according to DQ CEO John Gainor. (Also of note: The chain is owned by Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway.) So, what’s the word? Psyched that DQ will finally be in NYC, or is this just further evidence of the city’s continued suburbanization? Either way, junk-food addict Christina Tosi will soon have both some added competition and another outlet to satisfy her ongoing sugar cravings.
