Might as well buy pants with an elastic waistband, as Hayes Valley Bakeworks, the new community-oriented, non-profit bakery from Toolworks, is set to open on Thursday. Eater provides a first look at the bakery’s interior, which features a “multi-wooded,” modern open kitchen designed by Jim Maxwell of Architects II and boasts an art installation made of antique rolling pins underscoring the bakery’s unique mission aimed at empowering the homeless and disabled with hands-on baking skills.

Eater says that executive chef Alyssa Levy will be creating treats such as bacon-laced cinnamon rolls, lots of vegan and gluten-free options, and market-fresh sandwiches on housemade breads and foccacia, accompanied by Four Barrel and kombucha on tap.
