Bringing booze together with friends and a high-powered arsenal sounds like our idea of a jam, making Bodega’s new “Boxstar Parties” instantly appealing. Starting this Wednesday, the Santa Monica location of the wine bar will start offering “boxed” wine (limited to Dark Horse Pinot Noir, Thurston’s Oasis Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, and “Pineapple Express” Mendocino Sauvignon Blanc) served in decommissioned Army ammunition cases that have been converted into vessels branded with the bar’s logo, including glass holders at the base, to groups of eight to ten friends.

Each ammo box holds about four bottles of vino (priced between $150-$175) and comes with a detailed index card breaking down its contents. We already see that the bar’s PR sent one to the boxed-wine swilling mother of Kathy Griffin. It should be noted that the same wines also appear to be available for less in comparable packaging for home abuse.

Bodega Santa Monica invites the public to come and sample the new supply starting at 8:00 P.M. this Wednesday, while private parties can be booked at 310-394-3504.
