What You Missed at Taste of the Eastside

Los Feliz’s charming Barnsdall Park played host to “Taste of the Eastside” yesterday, spread atop the hillside with families, drunkies, and reps from a load of locally loved restaurants, all enjoying the early summer sun and 360-degree vistas. While Guisado’s somehow didn’t make it as planned, denying the “eastside” event its eastern-most reference point, Yuca’s didn’t forget where it came from and staved off taco madness with its James Beard-winning cochinita pibil. Also popular were the kumiais freshly shucked by the boys at L & E Oyster Bar, vegan buffalo cauliflower from Mohawk Bend, pavloas with SQIRL preserves from Proof Bakery, pates served from the hands of actor Andre Royo at Canele, and silver dollar-sized pancakes with itty bitty squiggles of bacon from Square One. See all the highlights you may have missed yesterday by checking out our slideshow look back at “Taste of the Eastside.”
