Marina del Rey’s side of Southern soul, Aunt Kizzy’s Back Porch, announces on its website that space for a relocation is still being secured. Meanwhile, the dining room left empty after Kizzy’s departure looks just about ready to start serving on the second floor of this Washington Boulevard strip-mall. Tahntawan Thai Kitchen is set to take-over, already stocking the space with a more upscale look that includes tree-top tables overlooking the comings and goings of the customers at Magic Nails, along with a slatted patio space of traditional Thai panels and a simple interior of white walls (previously occupied by autographed photos of celebrities) and black tables.

The Overlook

While owner Gumlai Dee was unavailable for more details, the self-described “exotic” Thai restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner, serving wine and beer, and hopefully raising that “exotic” part through Thai dishes not typically seen this far west. See what awaits down below.

Tahntawan Thai Kitchen, 523 Washington Blvd. Marina del Rey. 310-578-4199.
