Preview Pecking Order and X-Marx’s Flour and Bones at Sunday’s Dose Market

We mentioned last week that Kristine Subido’s Pecking Order: A Chicken House would be previewing her Filipino chicken (marinaded in her mom’s traditional marinade) at this Sunday’s Mother’s Day edition of Dose Market. But we’ve gotten some more details— not least among them that, fittingly for the day, Mama Subido herself will be there working the table. In any case, Kristine and mom will be serving roasted chicken thighs and legs, Mom’s pickles, pandesal bread, and halo-halo (shaved ice and fresh fruit) for dessert. And they’ll be selling jars of banana ketchup, Pecking Order gravy and Mom’s pickles. But that’s not the only preview of a coming-soon restaurant to be at this week’s Dose Market.

• Also previewing their food will be Flour and Bones, a new restaurant coming to Logan Square in July from the owners of X-Marx, the underground dining club. We will have more about that later this morning, but for now know that they’ll be previewing their Asian-inspired cuisine.

• If you’ve never tried Jeni’s Ice Cream from Columbus, Ohio… well, don’t miss their Dose debut. One, because they do in full, rich ice cream the kinds of exotic flavors (like Thai lemongrass) you normally only get in gelato or sorbet. Two, because Jeni herself just won a James Beard award for her ice cream cookbook.

Other vendors who will be there include Do-Rite Donuts, the new doughnut shop in the Loop; Pleasant House Bakery; the return of Cheese Dream grilled cheese; Quince & Apple preserves, Falafill, Sweet Cakes Bakery, Rare Tea Cellar, Zingerman’s creamery from Ann Arbor, and complimentary Virtue Cider and Koval Distillery cocktails. See the whole list here, then be at the River East Arts Center Sunday starting at 10 am.
