Tomorrow morning at ten, RockSugar Pan Asian Kitchen chef Ismail Mohan is bringing his mother to work. Mohan’s Malay-born mama, named Asiah and raised in Singapore, is cited as the chef’s biggest influence when it comes to his all-encompassing take on Southeast Asian cooking found here and plans to share her owns secrets in a two-hour cooking class. For $70, guests will learn how to make traditional breakfast items like congee, mee siam, kaya toast, and minced meat and egg roti john, which participants then get to eat with the mother-son team.
